Model, Muse & Wife.

René Magritte in his studio painting "Attempting the Impossible", in which he depicts himself painting a nude woman (his wife, Georgette Berger). Soon after his mother’s tragic death, committing suicide by drowning when he was 15, René Magritte met 13 year old Georgette Berger, in 1913. According to the story, they met at a local fair and fell in love, but then a twist of fate pulled them apart. It was not until 9 years later, that they would cross paths again in an art supply store in Brussels. She then became his model and muse and in 1922, his wife.

In 1936 Magritte's marriage got into trouble when he met a young artist, Sheila Legg, and began an affair. Magritte arranged for his friend, Paul Colinet, to entertain and distract Georgette, but this led to an affair between his wife and Colinet. Magritte and his wife did not reconcile until 1940.

Magritte was a Belgian surrealist artist who painted around 1,300 - 1,600 pieces in his lifetime.
Asteroids are usually named after famous and important characters of history and on April 3rd, 1989, Eric Walter Elst, a Belgian astronomer, discovered a main-belt asteroid and named it after the Belgian surrealist artist, "7933 Magritte".
